I Want, I Want, I Want

I just got back from a vacation where at least every hour, my hostess told me something else she wanted. A pontoon boat, an iPad, a fifth wheel, a pool table....none of them cheap! I can appreciate wanting things, but I just wonder--when is it enough? Why can't we be happy with what we have? She already has two homes, one on a lake and decorated right out of a magazine. She has a brand new vehicle, an RV trailer, a motor boat, a paddle boat. But she wants.

I'm pretty happy with my life. The things I want (other than a swimming pool and an outdoor kitchen) are mostly intangible. I want to sell more books. I want my son to be happy and healthy. I want to learn how to balance writing with my life. I want to sell my mother-in-law's house.

I wonder if my hostess has these desires because they keep her going, or if she just doesn't know how to be happy with what she has.
